Bay FC Return Home From International Break With Draw vs. Houston

Bay FC returned from its international summer break to face Houston in NWSL league action. Bay FC led 1-0 at halftime, but the second half was filled with excitement as both teams exchanged goals. Houston leveled the score with 20 minutes remaining, but midfielder Taylor Huff scored her first career goal in the 74th minute, giving Bay FC the lead again. Houston equalized in the 88th minute, and the match ended in a draw, with both teams earning a point.

Bay FC unfortunately seems to have a replay of their game against Houston earlier in the season and it was almost a déjà vu type of situation. The exact same thing happened in their game on May 24th, in San Jose in which Bay FC held a lead and gave it up late.

Despite the setback, the team has some reasons to stay somewhat optimistic as they begin the second half of their season. This is an ideal moment to reflect on the insights gained from the first part of the season and make necessary adjustments to progress into this next phase.

An intriguing highlight was when Bay FC defender Caprice Dydasco made history in the 73rd minute by surpassing 15,000 career minutes. She has participated in 184 matches, averaging 81.62 minutes per game. Dydasco is the 14th player in NWSL history to achieve this 15,000-minute milestone and the second on Bay's roster, following Emily Menges, who reached the mark in 2024.

With the result Bay FC are, currently, on the outside, looking in when it comes to being able to be in the playoff hunt, but they still have plenty of time to get results in their favor. They will next hit the road to take on Chicago. The match will begin at 11 a.m. PT and will be broadcast on CBS. The team will be back in the Bay Area and PayPal Park on August 16, when San Diego Wave FC travels north to the Bay Area for the final regular season game between the two squads this season.
