The San Jose Earthquakes Head on the road to Kansas City is the prepare for their first row game of the 2025 season against Sporting Kansas City. This will be the first time the Quakes have hit the road this season during the 2025 MLS Regular Season after a preseason trip to Indio, California.

Following several preseason games, the San Jose Earthquakes shocked PayPal Park and the entire MLS by delivering a balanced offensive and solid defensive performance, resulting in a 4-0 home shutout in San Jose to kick off their season.

Sportking Kansas City has had some troubles to start their season losing both Concacaf matches vs. Inter Miami and their season opening game vs. Austin. They have only managed to score once across three games to open their 2025 season, conceded five goals and have had a 44% possession percentage within those three games. The team experienced the departure of several key figures in the offseason, and the new talent acquired has not yet gelled. Although it's still early in the season, the possession percentage is concerning.
The Earthquakes on the other side have seen Crisitian Espinoza already make his mark with a hat-trick of assists in his game, and young players such as Jamar Ricketts, Beau Leroux, and Bouda make an impact.

Chico Arango, Hernán Lopez, and Josef Martinez did also make an impact on the field with their passing. The ball was spreading around the field like a pinball machine, and if San Jose can do anything similar to how they did a previous game, they will be able to maintain a strong attack.

San Jose travel to children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Missouri to take on sporting KC in their first road game of the season. Currently the San Jose earthquakes have a 30% chance of winning this game versus Kansas City's 44%. The percentage of a draw between the two clubs is at 26% as of 2/28/2025.
