Oracle Park in San Francisco was the venue for one of the most significant games in United States women's league sports, with Bay FC hosting Washington Spirit.
With more than 35,000 tickets sold before kickoff, the game was poised to break the NWSL attendance record and establish a new attendance record for league play in U.S. women's sports overall. By the end of the match, the final count was 40,091.

The game was intense with all eyes on San Francisco for an anticipated matchup for both teams and just the Bay Area in general. You could feel the intensity and importance even before kick off, but once the starting whistle blew, you could see it all on the pitch. Washington took advantage very early as they were able to set the tone with an early goal from Kate Wiesner in the 7th minute.
Washington Spirit continued to mount the momentum as they continue to put pressure on the defense of Bay FC. They continued to create shots as Trinity Rodman made herself known with some stellar on-ball play along with Leicy Santos who kept putting the ball into key positions in order to create chances. Washington were able to extend their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Croix Bethune and with a creation of a own goal.
Bay FC though were determined to get on the board even with their backs against the wall early, and it was Racheal Kundananji who gave Bay FC some life and brought the energy back into the stadium with a goal.

Shortly after there was another goal from Bay FC's Kelli Hubly in which you could tell the momentum was turning. Bay FC continue to make the best of each opportunity, and kept the possession in opposing territory for majority of the second half. They put the pressure all the way onto the final moment in which even their goalkeeper almost scored. Unfortunately, for the Bay Area side, even with all of the hardest efforts that they had, they were unable to draw a level or come ahead vs. Washington.

In the end, although it was a losing effort, you could tell that the bay area is fully supportive of Bay FC as they were able to have oracle park, full of their fans supporting throughout the game. The city of San Francisco fully embraced Bay FC and it leaves an interesting door open for the club to do this again especially with their training facility, being in a short distance from where this game to place.
