San Jose Earthquakes Continue To Prove They Are A Top Team In MLS

The San Jose Earthquakes continue to showcase that this team is absolutely exceeding expectations and maintaining a firm grip on one of the top positions in Major League Soccer. San Jose has continued their dominant form, under head coach Bruce Arena, and they show now signs of slowing down at all.

The team suffered a major loss once DeJuan Jones went down with a season-ending injury and has seen major signing Timo Werner out for a few games, but the team seems to be able to come together regardless who is on the field and that is something that has been stunning to see come to fruition on the pitch. The team just has a dominant force overall from the attacking side and even the defensive side. The defensive back line has been absolutely game changing to the point that they're even contributing on the offense.

The San Jose Earthquakes are currently one of the top teams in the Western Conference, and it doesn't seem like that will change anytime soon. The team is coming off two straight wins one vs Phoenix Rising (USL) during the U.S. Open Cup and one on the road against LAFC, where they demonstrated that they are a team poised to contend this season due to their strong gameplay performances. You can see the game plan that Bruce Arena had in mind and it seems like the team is just executing at their best level. The game seems to flow through Niko Tsakiris, and he has stepped up to be a major contributor setting up the ball to perfect positions, and contributing to the scoring himself this year. However, you can still observe the emergence of Ousseni Bouda on the offensive side, along with players like Daniel Munie and Reid Roberts.

A similar trend continued vs Austin tonight in which the team fell behind earlier, but were able to get back on track and when they did, the goals came aplenty. After going to the half a goal down, they flipped the script in the 58th minute.

In the 58th minute, Jack Jasinski got San Jose on the board with his first MLS goal which changed the entire momentum. San Jose continued to put pressure and then it all just came at once for Austin FC. Niko Tsakiris gave the ball to Timo Werner for a penalty attempt after a foul was committed and he put it away for the 2nd goal. Shortly after Preston Judd scored a brace with two goals minutes after each other. The cherry on top was the 5th goal from Bouda. After all the late night scoring the Quakes finished out a +14 minute overtime with a 5-1 victory at home.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that this team will continue their form, and it appears that the rest of the league is becoming aware of what San Jose is doing at this moment. San Jose fans have a lot to look forward to with the U.S. Open Cup getting closer to its final teams with the Quakes taking on Minnesota United FC on April 28th, 2026 and they have every reason to feel confident about the remaining games of the MLS Regular Season.
