Going Back-Back to San Jose

I couldn't be any more excited than taking the next step into my career. As a photographer/content creator I've been on many different paths, and the latest stop has led me back on the pitch. The latest stop was going back to PayPal Park in San Jose, California.

The San Jose Earthquakes hosted Vancouver Whitecaps FC for their 2023 MLS Season Home Opener, and being on the pitch you could feel the energy running through the air.

From the presentation of the players, the singing of both the Canadian and United State anthems, and the roars of the crowd, you could feel the energy as the 2023 season continues for both teams.

Right out of the gates, the game was a hard-fought match-up for both teams. Both teams defensively were in command, yet offensively they both had opportunities to pounce. This game is seemed to be a tale of two half's with each team having their share of the momentum.

The Whitecaps seemed to have taken control of the game in the first half and even scored a goal, but once the whistle blew for the second, San Jose responded to the challenge. With a goal already scored by Vancouver's Schopf, San Jose continued to keep the ball on the opposing side of the field creating many windows of opportunity. They were finally able to get on the board with a header by Ebobisse, and then take the lead with a rocket shot to the top right corner of the goal from Akapo. Overall, the pacing of a game was fast, and both teams seemed to be pumped up for the match-up, and it was showcased in their playing form. Some key performances that stood out to me was those of Cristian Espinoza, and Cade Cowell of the Earthquakes. Both players were constantly creating chances for their club and seemed to always be on the ball. The Earthquakes were able to get a much-needed win for the start of the season after the heartbreaking loss to Atlanta United.
